Power Hiking!
Most hiking is boring and slow. It gets you into nature, which is great. But hiking, for the most part, is not a workout or training. It's more like leisurely sightseeing.
I've been trying to figure out how to design a hike that gets you in nature but is also a great workout.
Say hello to Power Hiking
The concept is simple: find a short trail with a high peak, and go up and down a few times. Ideally the path should be more than 5 minutes but less than 10, and ideally you complete 3 round trips.
I'm sure I'm not the first person to do this, but I haven't seen Power Hiking described elsewhere, yet. It's really awesome because anyone can do it, just pick a hill and pace that suits your level of conditioning.
It's the perfect Sunday morning brunch burner. And the views!
My current favorite spots are:
Mori Point on the beach in Pacifica (pictured)
Mount Davidson, the highest point in San Francisco
